Former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has paid a visit to former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kwesi Nyantakyi to officially inform him of the death of his father, Mr Gyan Baffuor, also known as Assase Jay.The former Black Stars skipper made the visit on Thursday afternoon together with members of his family, including his uncle and family head, Wofa Kojo Gyan.Other members of the delegation included Asamoah Gyan himself, former Ghana Football Association Executive Committee member and businessman Sammy Anim Addo, and Mrs Betty Anim Addo.According to Kwesi Nyantakyi, the delegation’s visit was primarily to extend the formal invitation to him for the one-week funeral celebration of the late Gyan Baffuor.This afternoon, I received the family of the late Mr Gyan Baffuor, father of former captain of the Black Stars, Mr Asamoah Gyan, aka Baby Jet, Nyantakyi wrote on Facebook.The delegation was led by Wofa Kojo Gyan, uncle of Mr Asamoah Gyan. Other members of the delegation included Mr Asamoah Gyan, Mr Sammy Anim Addo and Mrs Betty Anim Addo.Nyantakyi further revealed that he used the occasion to express his condolences to Asamoah Gyan and the entire Gyan family following their loss.I expressed my condolences to Mr Asamoah Gyan, his immediate and extended families. May God comfort the Gyans during this difficult period, he added.Gyan Baffuor’s passing has brought together members of the former Black Stars captain’s family, friends and associates as preparations continue towards his funeral rites.Asamoah Gyan, widely known by his nickname Baby Jet, is Ghana’s all-time leading scorer at the FIFA World Cup and one of the country’s most celebrated footballers.His father was known to have been a strong figure within the family throughout the footballer’s career.The funeral ceremonies are expected to attract family members, friends, football personalities and other well-wishers who will join the Gyans in mourning their loss.
